Ponds

The Licking County SWCD will help land owners discover what types of soils they will be dealing with for pond construction as well learn the limitations of those soils. We also have various resource materials on pond construction and pond management. However, we do not provide on site evaluations or assist with the construction of the pond.

Wildlife Habitat

Planting wildlife habitat is an excellent way to attract wildlife. In addition you are providing food and shelter for them. Easy ways to attract birds and butterflies is to plant a patch of wild flowers. You can purchase these flowers from our office during the annual tree sale.

Rain Barrels / Rain Gardens

A Rain Barrel is a container used to collect and store rainwater from rooftops and downspouts that would otherwise be lost to runoff or dispersed onto your property. The water is in the rain barrel can then be used for watering your landscape or washing your car.

Have a low wet spot? Tired of mowing around it? Crate a Rain Garden! A rain garden is an area where you plant a variety of beautiful wild native flowers. This area will act as a filter for the runoff water that collects in the low area. Rain Gardens can be found just about anywhere!!

More information on Rain Barrels and Rain Gardens will be available in the near future.
