Timber Harvest Notice of Intent
A voluntary program designed to assist woodland landowners, loggers, and foresters with the pre-planning of logging activities. The program is designed to help the responsible parties select best management practices (BMP’s) that will reduce soil erosion and maintain the harvest site to State standards found in the Agricultural Pollution Abatement Rules and Standards (Ohio Administrative Code 1501:15-5-01 to 15-5-18).

Forestry Land Enhancement Program (FLEP)
This program facilitates planting hardwood trees. FLEP will pay up to 50% of the cost of the trees and shipping. There is a minimum of 5 acres and this program can't be used with any other USDA cost-share program.

Conservation Reserve Program (CRP)
The land must meet cropping history requirements or be on marginal grazing land. Continuous CRP-land adjacent to streams or other water bodies can apply at any time. Whole field CRP-whole cropped fields, apply at nationwide sign-up periods. There is a 50% to 90% cost incentive for trees, land prep and planting costs. Annual rental payment is based on soil types.

Forestry Environmental Quality Incentives Program (EQIP)

Must have 10-30 acres and a Forestry Stewardship Plan to be eligible. Competitive process-points given for property lines marked, being a Certified Tree Farm and a forestry practice (i.e. TSI practice gathers more points than tree planting.) Practices available are: grapevine control; crop tree release; woody invasive specie control; tree pruning; and tree planting. 50% cost incentive for trees, land prep and planting costs. Wildlife Habitat Incentives Program (WHIP)
Competitive process - points are given for size of acreage, proximity to existing wildlife habitat and water, type of practice (trees, prairie grass, wetland, etc.). There is a 5-acre minimum. Eligible land includes agricultural, pasture, woodlots, streambanks. There is up to 75% cost incentive on practice implementation. Eligible practices include grass (prairie and cool-season) seeding, fence, wetland structures, and tree plantings.

State of Ohio Program - White Pine Match
Minimum of 5 acres of 3,000 white pines (8 x 8 spacing). You will receive 20 cents per tree, State of Ohio, Division of Forestry matches after 1,500 trees.

LCSWCD Annual Seedling Tree Sale: Each spring the District holds a seedling tree sale. Tree packets are available until supply is exhausted. All orders are subject to availability. Tree orders are placed mid January through March and trees are picked up mid late April. For more information please call 740-670-5330.
