Library levy likely to return; soil-water levy isn't

Election day was tough for the Pataskala Public Library and the Licking County Soil and Water Conservation District, as both had levy requests defeated …
… As for the conservation district levy, Licking County voters rejected the 0.1-mill, five-year operating levy request, 31,576 votes, or 60.58 percent, to 20,547, or 39.42 percent.
The levy would have generated $370,000 per year for five years and cost $3.06 per year for every $100,000 of assessed property valuation.
“It’s sad, but we’ll figure out something,” said conservation district board chair Debra Walton. “I still think Licking County people really care about the environment.”
She does not anticipate the district returning to the voters any time soon.
Walton said the conservation district would make do with the revenue it receives and continue to try to find outside funding sources.
The election also decided several local government races.
