Gibson Farm Preserved in Licking County

December 27, 2011

Frank and Flo Gibson closed on an agricultural easement purchase with the Ohio Department of Agriculture in December.  The 183-acre Gibson farm is located in St. Albans and Granville Townships and includes about 125 acres of prime agricultural soils. Scenic views are plentiful.

The Gibsons wanted to permanently protect their farm from development and in 2010 applied for and accepted an agricultural easement purchase offer from ODA.  The Gibson Farm is adjacent to the 41- acre Custer Farm which is easement-protected with the Licking Land Trust.  It is also close to the Licking Land Trust-owned and deed-restricted, 36-acre Fryman Reserve.

Other nearby public or protected properties include Hill Wetland Reserve, Spring Valley Nature Preserve and Salt Run Park, the Carter Farm and multiple Granville Township agricultural easements.
